01What is Vialo?

Vialo is a hyperlocal marketplace and community app for London. On one side, it's where neighbours buy, sell, and give things away — all within a short walk of home. On the other, it's a local feed for the tips, questions, events, and small moments that make up actual street life: a new café opening around the corner, a lost cat, a Saturday market two streets away.

It's built on a simple idea — the things happening within a fifteen-minute walk of your door deserve their own app.

02What does "Vialo" mean?

Vialo comes from Via Local — the idea of everything arriving through your street, your corner, your block. Via is the word for "way" in Latin, and the one you'll see painted above every Italian side-street. Local is the rest: the people who live where you live. So Vialo is, quite literally, the local way.

It's also a quiet promise. We think stronger communities start with small acts of connection — a shelf passed to a neighbour, a coffee shop tip shared on the corner, a free bag of apples from someone's garden. Vialo is the app for those small things.

03Where can I get Vialo?

Vialo is live now — free on the App Store and Google Play. It works in any London borough from day one. No waitlist, no postcode lottery — if you live in London, you're in.

04Is Vialo free?

Yes. Creating an account, listing items, browsing, messaging neighbours — all free. There is no listing fee and no selling fee. Neighbours settle between themselves in cash or by bank transfer, and Vialo takes no cut of what you sell.

05Where can I use Vialo?

Vialo works across every London borough — north to south, central to outer, all on equal footing from day one. The app uses your location (with your permission) to show you listings from your My Area (about 1.5 km around you) and Nearby (about 4 km). You can also browse the rest of London, but the default experience is hyperlocal.

Outside of London, you can download the app, but listings will be limited. We may expand to other UK cities in the future.

06How do I sign up?

When Vialo launches, you can download the app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Sign-up requires a UK mobile phone number for SMS verification. We don't require Facebook, Google, or any third-party login — just your phone and a display name.

07How do I report a user or listing?

Each listing and profile has a Report button in the top-right menu. Tap it, pick a reason, and add detail if you like. Reports go directly to our moderation team and are reviewed within 24 hours on working days.

For urgent safety concerns — threats, harassment, illegal activity — please also email support@vialo.uk so we can act immediately.

08How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Me → Settings → Delete Account. Your account, listings, and messages will be removed within 30 days. Some data is retained longer where required by law.

You can also email privacy@vialo.uk to request deletion or any other right under UK GDPR.

09How is my data protected?

We take privacy seriously. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Our primary database is hosted in the UK/EU region to minimise cross-border transfers. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

If you have any data-related questions or wish to exercise your rights under UK GDPR, email privacy@vialo.uk.

10I'm having a technical issue. What do I do?

Email support@vialo.uk with:

  • Your device and operating system (e.g., iPhone 14, iOS 18)
  • The Vialo version (shown at the bottom of the Me tab)
  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead (a screenshot, if possible, is very helpful)

We read every report and aim to reply within a working day.

11Security researcher? Press enquiry?

Partnership and press enquiries: hello@vialo.uk.

Security researchers: please email support@vialo.uk with SECURITY in the subject line. We appreciate responsible disclosure and aim to acknowledge reports within 48 hours.
